TRANSPORT AGREEMENT
The Parent’s Association of the European School, Mol (further referred to as the Parent’s Association)
and the parents of students and the students of the European School, Mol, who avail of the bus service organised by the Parent’s Association.
Concepts:
The school: the European School, Mol.
The Transport Committee: parents who provide logistical arrangements for travel to and from the school and who fall under the responsibility of the Parent’s Association.
Bus users: the students and their parents, who avail of the bus service.
The website: the website of the Parent’s Association www.paesmol.eu
Objectives:
The Transport Committee was set up to offer students, who live a certain distance from school, the possibility of being able to avail of (bus) transport to and from the European School, Mol.
1. Who can avail of the (bus) transport?
1.1 Only children whose parents are paid-up members of the Parent’s Association can avail of the bus service.
2. Responsibilities
2.1 Parents are responsible for their children’s behaviour during the bus journey and remain, at all times, liable.
2.2 Parents accept this responsibility and liability from the moment that their children board the bus, until they step off the bus and the bus departs.
3. Routes and bus stops
3.1 The bus
route is determined by the following factors:
-
Safety
-
Number of registered
children
-
The most profitable
route (in terms of time and cost)
3.2 The Transport Committee, in consultation with the school, decides, on an annual basis, which routes and bus stops (taking the criteria of 3.1 into account) will be used.
3.3 Routes and bus stops become final at the beginning of the school year or by 30th September, at the latest. These may only be changed for urgent reasons. The routes and bus stops are listed on the website. Changes are communicated by email with the concerned bus users.
3.4 Every bus has a time table with the departure times for every boarding point. These are listed on the web site. The bus shall not depart before the stated time except when all students have already boarded. The Transport Committee shall provide the Bus Company with a list of the student’s names.
3.5 To avoid delays, the students must be present, at the bus stop, at least five minutes before the scheduled departure time of the bus.
4. Discipline and safety
4.1 Upon consultation with the school, the Transport Committee appoints a student, who has the task of monitoring the normal state of affairs on the bus journey and during embarking and disembarking. This student is known as the bus representative. He/she can bring questions or explain problems to the Transport Committee and has to answer to the Transport Committee.
4.2 It is expected of every bus user that he/she behaves themselves and follows the instructions of the bus representative, so that a safe and uninterrupted journey is assured for all bus users, as well as for the bus driver.
4.2.a. Every bus user is allocated a seat in the bus that he/she may not (ordinarily) leave during the journey.
4.2.b. Damage to the interior of the bus falls under the responsibility of the parents whose child this seat is allocated to. Parents are primarily responsible until the child has reached the age of 18.
4.2.c. Every form of violence (physical, verbal or moral) is forbidden.
4.2.d. Smoking or playing with flammable material in the bus is strictly forbidden, as well as the handling of dangerous objects, such as scissors, knives etc, and the making of noise.
4.3. Instructions of the bus driver or the bus representative are to be strictly followed. The bus driver and the bus representative will report every form of misconduct to the Transport Committee.
4.4 Parents who drop and/or collect their children at the bus stop are responsible for this being a smooth exchange. They must be on the side of the road where the bus stops and must ensure that their child doesn’t cross the road unexpectedly.
4.5. Infringements of the rules are always reported. These will be further reported to the school depending on the nature of the infringement.
4.6. A child who regularly breaks the rules, can, after discussion between the Transport Committee, the concerned parents and the school, be excluded from using the bus.
4.6.a. If a child has received a formal warning from the Transport Committee, the parents will be informed, in writing, of this fact.
4.6.b. In the event of a second official warning, a consultation shall take place between the Transport Committee, the school management, the concerned child and his/her parents. Depending on the outcome of this, the Transport Committee will decide whether, or not, the concerned child shall be excluded from using the bus for a certain time (minimum one week).
4.6.c. If, after a suspension, a child breaks the rules again, they can be suspended from using any bus transport, organised by the Parent’s Association, for the rest of the school year. Transport to and from the school is then the responsibility of the parents. (They have to then arrange that their child reaches school.)
4.7. Eating a healthy snack is allowed in the bus. Any resulting waste must be tidied up by the bus users.
4.8. While on or near the bus, it is forbidden for students to sell snacks or drinks to their fellow bus users.
4.9. Only DVDs and videos, which have been approved for all ages, may be shown on the bus.
5. Insurance
5.1. Students are insured by the school, on their way to and from school, as well as by the Bus Company during the transport.
