International School Book Club
What is it all about ?
As parents, we want to foster a love of books in our children, to encourage their enjoyment and widen their experience in reading.
The Parents Association coordinates the Red House/Scholastic International School Book Club here in the European school of Mol.
Red House is a UK organisation designed specifically to give children and families around the world access to the latest English-language titles, all at discounted prices.
In an area where it is difficult to obtain English-language books, many parents have welcomed the opportunity to order through this club, which is run at Mol once every term.
It benefits those for whom English is a mother tongue but also for those for whom it is a second or further language. The range is wide, fiction and non-fiction, and caters for all interest ages up to about the age of 13. And even though the titles are current, the prices are all discounted!
The further great news is that ALL the children in school benefit from the book purchases of the parents, because free books are earned for the school to the value of 20 % of any joint order we place.
Since the club started running in September 2006, free books to the value of nearly €3,000 have now boosted the shelves of the library, classrooms, nursery and teachers’ resources in school.
Spring catalogues and online ordering will be available in the second half of this term.Your children may also be interested to click here for a host of free book-related activities, games, reviews: http://eu.clubs-kids.scholastic.co.uk/
