The bus transportation service of the PA
The Parents Association organises bus transport in order to assist pupils, living further away from the school, in their daily commute between their home and the European School in Mol.
Since the European School itself is not involved and there are no transport subsidies available from other benefactors, these activities must be organized and run on a full cost-recovery basis.
One standard fee of € 1.500,00 per student per school year will be charged.
Standard payment terms are three installments (other terms can be agreed upon after inquiry). Account information can be found here.
For the sake of greater clarity in these regards: full-school year use is the norm without pro-rata discounts for non-standard use, including for example – ‘partial-year’, ‘mornings only’, or ‘3-days/week only’ users. The standard fee applies to all students regardless of en-route embarkation or disembarkation points – so whether a student travels from Antwerpen or Eindhoven or half-way to either, the standard fee applies. This applies also to students who use the bus service for 5 days per week or for only two.
The Parents Association has unanimously resolved to follow the simple example of our public bus service in Vlaanderen “de Lijn” – one standard annual student bus fee regardless of distance travelled and regardless of frequency of use. Seats on the buses are made available on a “first come first served” basis.
However, in recognition of the financial burden of having siblings travelling to and from school, the following reduced fees will apply in the case of siblings:
2nd Child 75% = €1.125,00; 3rd Child 50% = € 750,00; 4th and subsequent Children free travel
Moreover, it must be clearly understood and acknowledged by all who avail themselves of such private busing services that the Parents Association will simply exercise its capacities in good faith with reasonable care and attention (consistent with the Belgian concept of “goede huisvader”). The Parents Association is engaged in this activity on your behalf on a volunteer basis. All who avail themselves of this service acknowledge and accept that travelling on these privately contracted buses remains a “PRIVILEGE” not “AN ACQUIRED RIGHT” even when bus fees have been paid.

Public Transportation to and from the ES Mol:
Vlaanderen’s public bus company “de Lijn” provides bus service from the Mol Train Station (essentially downtown Mol) to the European School Mol in the Europawijk. But, does so only twice a day – once leaving the station @8.05 a.m. and then to return from the school to the train station at 4.25 p.m. A similar service exist from the train station in Geel.
As well, “de Lijn” has several public transportation buses running from surrounding communities to and from the Mol Train Station including, inter alia: Arendonk, Beringen, Diest, Geel, Hamont, Leopoldsburg, Lommel, Retie, Tessenderlo, Turnhout, Zilvermeer, and Witgoor. However, their trajectories and schedules are subject to changes. And, parents would have to determine on their own whether the current bus schedules make a connection to the European School bus @ 8.05 a.m. feasible; returning home trips on these buses are likely less of a problem. More travel information can be found on "MijnLijn Reisinfo".
